X-Spin (DZ 180)
X-spinning is the easiest spin on the pogo stick. It gets it's name from the BMX trick the X-Up where the biker crosses their arms in the air to spin then handle bars. The Xpogo classification for the trick is the DZ Spin because both hands remain on the pogo stick while both feet leave the stick and it spins 180 degrees.
To do the trick start in basic position. When you jump into the air remove your feet from the pegs. They don't have to kick out far, in fact you can just lift them up and not kick them out at all! Once your feet are off the pegs pull your right handle bar towards you while pushing your left handle away from you. The stick will spin 180 degress clockwise. Pull your feet back in and just get them back onto the pegs before you land! This will leave your arms awkwardly crossed, so it's best to either regrip, or spin back right away. In the animation the jumper spins the stick clockwise but it can be done either way. Some jumpers find it easier to start with their arms crossed and spin it into basic position when learning.
Where to from here?
The trick leaves you in a position where the only thing to do next is spin back out. You can do another DZ 180 to end up in basic, or do a DZ 360 so you end up in the same position, but the other arm is in front. Learning this trick will help you master harder spin tricks and will get you comforable with taking you feet off the pegs to do tricks.
